THE ARTWORK
Fiori Assenti is a cycle of works by Albano Morandi created during the nineties on concept of emergence and latency of the image. These white colored forms, which Morandi defines “elements of a fossil flora”, emerge negatively from
monochrome of the work. The contrast, the simplicity of the composition, the material of the sign, were the themes that inspired the performance. The work present on stage, specially created by the artist, it connotes the space and becomes a co-protagonist of the performative action. Also for the scenic element Morandi goes beyond the concept of “superstructure”, getting rid of the canonical form in favor of slender figures that take space in their environment.
CHOREOGRAPHY AND MUSIC
Dance seeks expression through the investigation of forms that are reworked into a choreographic continuum that builds and subtracts, elaborates and deconstructs, for change its route from time to time. A path in which the theme of absence (or of negative) becomes the recurring element for both music and movement.
This ‘fossil flora’ plasters the dynamism of the bodies that attempt an expressiveness to which the plasticity proper to dance is “denied”. The bodies lend themselves, like the work, to become “sculptural forms” in a sort of counter-dance that winds between the little ones details, harmonious gestures in space and dissonant rhythmic moments. Together with choreography the pianos and the sound carpet created by an electronic reworking instruments participate in the game between absences and presences.
